This year for International Week of the Deaf 2017 (or Deaf Awareness Week), we are screening the movie "Marie's Story" this Saturday on September 23rd, at McGill University's SSMU building room LEV BUKMAN from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.

Right after, we will have our ASL Social Night. If you are D/deaf, an ASL student, one of our actors, an interpreter, or even just curious, come and practice! We will be having it at the Trois Brasseurs starting at 8:00pm.

If you are interested in socializing with all sorts of people, then this is the place for YOU!

Sisters In Motion III - Sept 16th

9/13/2017

SistersInMotion returns for a third edition! Bringing the same magic center-stage, our intention remains unchanged: to showcase the voices & vulnerability of Black, Indigenous and racialized sisters (what do we mean by "sisters"? https://tinyurl.com/y9pcdby8). By the simple act of sharing our stories, we discover our own power and create the community we all deserve. Our work and our words can no longer be denied for we have never been without a voice, rather the only thing we lack is a microphone. Come make magic with us this September 16th.

SistersinMotion also continues to call on the diversity and resiliency too often missing from many artistic, activist, and green initiatives here in the city. It is so important for all of us, but especially BIWOC and BIFOC, to reconnect to ourselves, each other and the Earth in a space that isn't extracting, exploiting or devaluing our labor and the land on which we proclaim our worth. Reconnection to the land. Reconnection to ourselves. Reconnection to each other.

In saying this, we'd like to acknowledge that this event is happening on unceded traditional Mohawk or Kanien’kehá:ka territories. That the First Nations and indigenous around the globe have helped pave the way for the different ways we heal today, whether through medicines or storytelling. For this, we hold gratitude, prayer, and solidarity in our hearts for our indigenous relatives.

ALL ARE WELCOME!! Please invite, share, and come out to enjoy a beautiful night of poetry, community and nature.
